countdown..

..to both New Years Eve AND Camilla and mine take off to the far East! I got a call from a good friend of mine who actually recommended not to pack anything at all - because you could buy anything in HK and most importantly, probably would buy anything because of the amount of things at a low cost! HOOORAY!!! Camilla, we are leaving in three days!!!!
20 degrees and sunshine!

But, first, New Years Eve which I am looking forward to celebrating with the guys I have always celebrated New Years Eve with every single year since high school!

check, check, check and check

Yes, I have now checked out all my points on the to do list. I have taken my vaccines, my doctor things, HK things, visa, buddy programme (my buddy´s name is Lijuan), and all the rest of the stuff that takes time to take care of... geeezz, really should get credits for applying for an exchange programme...

Anyway, today will be a day of baking and cooking for christmas! I will also try to clear out the heaps of papers that have piled up in m room... Oh, and listen to christmas music! It is after all almost christmas now, I have avoided all sorts of christmas gadgets and widgets and feelings since early november, but I will now allow myself to indulge in the christmas atmosphere! Hope you are too!

Gratulerer med dagen mamma!!

Mamma og mummi (mormor)!

Gratulerer med dagen mamma!! Og gratulerer med overstått til mormor også som hadde bursdag på luciadagen!

broadband at home!!

This is like a dream! Sitting at home at my parents house and surf on the Internet! I love it! Even my parents wonder why they havent done this before! It is wonderful to sit at home and being able to check all sorts of things during family discussions or on a quiet evening when you actually have the time to write an email or a blogpost! =)

I am currently writing my "remember this" - list for Hong Kong. It is going to be long, but it will be even worse when I see the stack of things and pile of clothes on my bed when I am packing.. I am NOT looking forward to that.. Slowly I am getting to grip with the fact that I am leaving for six months.. Strange. People seem even more exited than me on my behalf - which is fantastic! I think I have arranged all the necesary arrangements for me to be gone this time - postal adress, banking, insurance, dentist, doctor, university, studio apartment, phone... and the list goes on and on and on and on.. Who knew!?!?

Anyway, I hope people are enjoying their christmas preparation week and not stressing it away!!

For now - give your time to someone instead of spending time on getting presents for them!

empty!

I have now officially moved from Bergen and my room is incredibly empty! All my stuff has been packed away - either to the attic or to be moved away by car (my parents drove to get me and my stuff back home for christmas). Anyway, some sadness bubbles up inside of me when I see that I actually have to leave, but new adventures are awaiting and I am soooooo looking forward to meeting good old friends and seing new exciting places in January!!

Those who don´t check your blogs during the holidays - a merry christmas! The rest - I hope to see some updates and comments on your blogs and mine!

cheers!

more on Berlin

Hey, I forgot to tell you that I met Peter Scott, head of the Centre of New Media Knowledge Media Institute at the Open University in UK. I found him sitting in a corner in a corridor at the conference, connected to the net, balancing his apple laptop on his knees - perhaps reporting from the conference to his vlog. I saw his presentation in the plenary session and found his utterings quite fascinating and wanted to tell him that and perhaps get some more thoughts on the subject of the knowledge worker out of him. Instead he vlogged me! =) In the left column there is a link called in the corridor at educa - it starts with one guy and finishes of with a short introduction of me. Quite a funny experience. Stop strangers more often - you never know what might happen..

Berlin!

I had a wonderful time in Berlin at theOnline Educa Berlin 2006 and with Dominik! I would not have made it through such a huge city if it weren´t for him and he showed me all the worthy sights that was possible in the short time that was left after the conference. Fantastic breakfasts was absolutely something I will remember - thanx Dominik!

Pictures and a more detailed update might come later!

language blooper...

Oh well, it has just proven itself again.. So many people claim that they speak and write a language fluently.. Yet again.. I was typing in the adress for a norwegian online dictionary when this appeared on my screen.. A great example that meaning, cultural sayings etc is NOT the same as knowing the correct spelling or syntax in a language..

Yes darling, apparently you guys have some issues you should deal with..

(In norwegian this is quite the funny joke.. sorry dom..)

I did it!!

This was an awesome experience, though it was over pretty quick. I was scared!! But afterwards I just laughed in relief - it was so fun I wanted to have another go!

I went to a two day course on search engine optimalisation. This was situated out on Falck Nutec a company that works with offshore security and they do lifeboat releases!! A drop from 30meters straight into the water! And we got to try!!

some funny pictures..

Here are some "try to be gorgeous" pictures we took on my birthday - and I forgot to post them!! Hysterically funny moment - these are the worst results of the evening..!

Perfect test for Knowledge Enterprises

"When we were making widgets, it was about control.

"We at Widget Corp have carefully developed the optimum standardised process for widget production. There are 7 key steps in the production procedure. These must be followed by everyone. If you deviate in any way from any of the 7 steps in the widget production procedure there is a significant risk of physical harm to you and your colleagues and an unnacceptably high number of defective widgets. Widgets can only be made on our premises for health and saftey reasons. Our salespeople sell 1,000 widgets a week - we therefore need every employee to produce 5 perfectly formed widgets per day (during their 8 hour shifts between the hours of 6.00am and 10.00pm) in order to meet orders and create reserve stocks. If you cannot produce 5 perfect widgets per day, we can always find someone else who can. Because of the physical strength required in the production process, widgets are traditionally only created by men."

All perfectly (ahem) reasonable.

Now go back and substitute "idea" for "widget" throughout that paragraph.

That's why Kmanagement isn't about control."

Internet city

I just moved into Internet city. We are two cities in Norway competing to be the bigger one. Very complex. =) I am looking forward to do some research on this new city and I am eager to do my morning walk (maybe more like mid-day stroll) through the streets to see what fun I can find!

It is situated at Nettby.no Do you have something similar where you come from?

Close to blasphemy?

"One must strive to eat dangerously as one comes into the Will to Power Oneself Thin," Nietzsche wrote. "What do you fear? By this are you truly Fattened. You must embrace your Fears, as well as your Fat, and learn to Laugh as you consume them, along with Generous Portions of Simple Salad. Remember, as you stare into the lettuce, the lettuce stares also into you."

todays saying

I just watched "Først & Sist", a Norwegian talkshow (translated into english it´s called "First & Last") where various guests are invited to talk about different stuff (not unfamiliar from the (don´t) talk-more genre). ANYWAY, a funny funny artist/singer/comedian (Øistein Sunde) commented on technology and said the following:

If I want to get some work done - I´ll use my Mac.
If I just want the day to pass by - I´ll use a PC.

This is now my permanent "todays saying" next to my two other life mottos: "better late than never to show up at all" (Bedre sent enn aldri) and "Live for the moment" (lev i øyeblikket).

Anyone else who have some mottos to share?

whats new?!

I am going home to mom and dad to rest. =) I love those words. 0ost students have had a looong nice non-relaxing summer job. Supposedly, if you´ve had a long and nice relaxing holiday it will be two hard first weeks back in school or at work. I can go along with that theory too, but I still long for an extra long student-summer-job-free holiday! :0)

Back to school

Yes, I have been to my first orientation meeting about the masters programme and it looks like this can be a pleasant experience after all! looking forward to get started though I have a feeling it its going to be hard not to get really tired of your own topic after two years of thinking about it. Anyway, I am thrilled everything is back to normal; the city is lively again, the students are back, the sun is shining and life is good. Hope everyone else out there are looking forward to get back to school or work and have all had a relaxing summer!

Fantastisk gledelig gjensyn!

This is a perfect pic from a perfect moment!! well, the pics aren´t that nice, but the evenging was!! A really really good friend of mine from Bergen, who sadly moved away two years ago to the joyful east of Norway, invited me for a girls night in Oslo on Friday. Unfortunatly I only had my mobile cam and took only two pics before it got too dark.. Anyway, I met Nora´s friends who I had actually met some years ago on a christmas event. Friday evening was just great and we finished our reunion with a long good breakfast in the backyard the following morning!

well placed on 14 squaremeters

Well, I am finally home again in my luxurious room in Bergen. No more garden and house and full fridge everyday. Not for a short time at least. I´ll survive. I will work here (and already have been during this past week) at Twisted (and another project) untill I go back to my parents to work for them again. So much to do, so little time. Feels like this summer is racing off in a Formula 1 car. Oh well. Life is good anyhow!

Hope you people out there are enjoying life and your vacations, and if not I hope you at least see the value of this time a year due to how jolly it makes people feel! =)

My intentions in this post was actually to update you on my and Tommy´s vacation on Malta, but once again I left the cord behind and can´t unload the camera so you can see the pictures.. I promise you it will be done one day ;)

ciao,

field trip

After a great initiative by Anders, a bunch of people met Friday evening to walk up to a small lake on mount Fløyen here in Bergen. We all wanted to celebrate that we had finnished our final exams (even though I am not actually done untill wednesday the 14th..) and enjoy a good drink surrounded by fantastic nature and a beautiful sunset well placed in some soft heather in the woods. And it was indeed a fantastic experience! Grilled saussages, swimming in the nude, feeding a chinese tourist that was wondering around in the mountain, singing songs - in short, enjoying what life has to offer.

Of course, I had to twist my anckle badly and wasn´t able to walk down by myself.. I was brought to the ER in an ambulance.. A whole lot of fuzz and a whole lot of pain. So here I am - lying in my bed trying to read for my final oral exam on wednesday. It is thirty degrees outside and I am pretty damn hot - hahahahahahaha... Besides, I live on the fourth floor with no elevator and I get sweaty only by thinking about it!!!! Oh well, I´m not sad, I can only laugh because this whole incident is typically me.

Anders, Ole Thomas and I went straight to the park to enjoy the sun and a beer after our final exam!

den store fagfesten 1.juni

The title of this post is the name of the wonderful summer party for the students at the institute of media and informations science. I know that it is a while ago, but sometimes it takes a little time to actually post a post! :0)

Us girls, who have been sticking together for three years now, gathered at my place for something we norwegians call a vorspiel, a pre-party!

the proud kom.tek quiz team!
Anette var med oss og hadde babyfri (til elleve/tolv hvertfal!) Her sammen med camilla!

night shift

This is the third night in a row that I stay up until this hour. I can´t seem to be getting in bed earlier, even though my summer vacation is less than two weeks away and I should be able to keep up with my, at least so far, good work till then... Oh well, doesn´t matter when the reading takes place as so long as it gets done, ay?

Grattis til dere som er ferdige!
Og dere som ikke er ferdige enda - ha en god siste innspurt!

picture search

Go to Google.com and clicked on images. Search for x-ray pregnant bird. Interesting result huh...?

oh, I did so, because there lives two doves in a hole in the wall of my building and they´ve just had kids. Therefore, I wondered how an x-ray of a pregnant dove would look like.. I should go out and get some more fresh air before I go to sleep. I know.

this is it..

..my terrifying java exam is here. Tomorrow I will be tested to see if anything at all has got stuck to my memory these last months.. I am sorry to say that I wish I didn´t have to take this many credits this term, otherwise I would have spent more time on studying for this exam. But by one thirty it will all be over and I can only look forward to meeting Dominik and his brother and spend the week with them! cheers!

I need some fresh air. A walk with tommy and eat ice cream. yeah!

Streik?

Not only are all the ferries in this country grounded in every harbour in Norway. Now its seems that the teachers at the university are at risk of going to streik as well. They want as big a paycheck as the teachers of the private sector. Don´t blame them. For those who know Norwegian, this is an article about the streik.

The downside to this is that as a result of this streik I might have to study a bit longer since there will be noone left to censor the exams.. I actually missed one exam in highschool because of a streik once, but I am not hoping for it as much this time as I did back then.

If you think that THAT sounds bad - we are only witnessing the beginning.. Prison gards are also on streik and they are threatening with the release of prisoners.. Again, here is an article in norwegian about that. Oh, my...

Better go back to my java-studying again - maybe pray a little in between - so I can take my exams, finish my degree and go on a summer vacation.

Et stort hurra på 17.mai !!

Congratulations dear fellow norwegians!! All my friends, and all my family, I wish you all a beautiful day with tons of fun parades, singing, hot-dog eating, ice cream eating and good times with friends and family! For you who are not familiar with this and do not comprehend what I am writing about; Today, the 17th of May, is the Norwegian Constitution day! Hip Hip Hoorray!!

Heeeeeeeeeia Braaaaaaaann!!!!

The 16th og may is quite the football occasion and today is the annual game with the Bergen team Brann on Brann Stadion right her in... Bergen! Last weekend I saw Brann against Stabækk which is a team not so far away from my old surroundings in Asker, in which I had to support both teams, but quietly, I am not stupid.. =) Guess five years in this town has given me some empathy for this particular team, so all I am left to say today is..... Huuuuraaaaah!!!! They won!!!!!!! Jeeee!!!!

happy news!

I just had to express how happy I am today! Dominik announced that he (and his brother) is coming to Bergen to see me in the end of May!! Jei! I love it when good friends come to visit! :0)

The coming of spring

It is here again. Another beginning. People are enjoying the sunny weather. The snow is gone, the wind is getting warmer and everything is starting to look greener. Every bud on every plant is saying its big HELLO to the world during these days and weeks.

I try not to go out too much. I am one of those who dislike spring at this moment. The person that says "The only thing that good weather does is to disturb/distract me from reading for my exams. Goddamit. I´ll sit in today. And I won´t feel bad because of it." You might be asking yourself why? How can all this beauty be hated by anyone?

I´m allergic to all the G!&/%$# buds..

Exams are crap? Think about this guy!

I have now acquired the huge sum of 5 studypoints at this point, but have 40 to go this term. My first exam therefore seemed to be like spitting in the sea and I am now a little nerves again about things I should have done and things I need to do.

Fortunately I was surfing the web the other day and found a most delightful picture that sure as h%$& cheered me up! So quit complaining about your job and your exams! Even though this time of year is filled with sunny days and lots of anxiety and examination nerves, I will never feel as crap as this guy must feel. Even if I would fail all my exams I will never have to do what he does. In this post I have not taken into consideration the saying that "things are as bad as you perceive them to be" (or something in that direction.. Never been good with sayings.. Now mottos, that´s a whole other story - "Everything will turn out fine, one way or another")

pictures from finland

I forgot to take pictures most of the time I was in Helsinki because it so much fun seing people again that I.. well forgot! I only realised this when I loaded the pictures I took onto my Mac. I found a heap of pictures from my aunts birthday party.. Besides, most of my interesting pics are on my mobile brick and I don´t know how to download them since I don´t have bluetooth.. So here are some pictures I remebered to take the second time I went out with Dominik and Sanna for a bucket of margarita..

A really cute picture of Sanna!
Find the least photogenic person in the picture...
My fantastic grandmother!
Doing their best to empty out the bucket.
Exhausted from all the activities after yet another succesful Easter holiday
